The "Engaged For Ocean" label was created to allow those who consider the Ocean a precious resource to become actors of its preservation and to finance ocean initiatives.

HOW WILL THE FUNDS RAISED BE USED?

Every year, the Scientific and Technical Committee (more info) of the "Engaged For Ocean" label issues a call for thematic projects to which NGOs, associations, scientific centers, PhD students, entrepreneurs, naked project leaders, etc. can respond...

These concrete projects must be based on measurable actions with tangible effects, and must issue an annual results report guaranteeing transparency in the use of funds and their effects.

The breakdown of the use of funds allocated to projects is as follows:

33%

SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH

33%

BLUE ECONOMY

33%

NGOS / ASSOCIATIONS

ENGAGED REPORTS

REDISTRIBUTION OF TANGIBLE RESULTS

Each project selected and financed by the Engaged For Ocean label is contractually obliged to produce an annual report detailing the measurable effects of its application in the field.

Awareness-raising, compensation, dissemination, restoration, discovery, etc. are all points to which the selected candidates must provide verifiable answers.

The Label then summarizes all these results before issuing, in turn, pro-rata reports on the funds raised by the label holders, which can be integrated into the CSR commitments.

In concrete terms, if the label funds projects to the tune of €1,000,000 and these projects generate these results :

  • 12,000T of CO2 offset
  • 200ha of coral reefs restored
  • 2,000 km2 of seabed explored
  • 50 fundamental scientific discoveries
  • 100 validated theses
  • 950,000 schoolchildren reached
  • Etc...

Ahen, for example, a label holder who has donated €100,000 will receive 10% of these results via an Engaged Report, i.e. :

  • 1,200T of CO2 offset
  • 20ha of coral reefs restored
  • 200 km2 of seabed explored
  • 5 fundamental scientific discoveries
  • 10 validated theses
  • 95,000 schoolchildren sensitized
  • Etc...

The label holder's CSR/ESG actions will then be perfectly tangible and verifiable, and can be included in the company's official declarations.

THE 4 COMMITMENTS

THE CORNERSTONE OF OCEAN PRESERVATION

POLLUTION

Plastic, and especially single-use plastic (40%), is the primary source of marine pollution. Humanity has produced more than 7 billion tons of plastic, of which nearly 5 billion tons are now a source of pollution. Every minute, the equivalent of 10 garbage trucks of plastic are dumped into the ocean.

Plastic is a noble material that has allowed many advances, it should no longer be considered as a disposable by-product but as a renewable resource.

BIODIVERSITY

More than 30% of global fishing is illegal, more than half of marine species will be in danger of extinction before the end of the century. Industrial trawling, by scraping the seabed, is damaging the carbon pump that is the ocean, and emits as much CO2 as air transport.

Catering as locally as possible and excluding all endangered species should not be a problem, especially in view of the consequences of poor sourcing.

PARTNERSHIPS

The responsibility to build our future belongs to each of us. It is therefore up to the most informed and aware of the urgency to act, to show the way to a sustainable future where peace and humanity will find their place.

Companies that have chosen to impose strong CSR commitments on themselves mustbring their partners to the same level of awareness. It is only at the cost of this pedagogy that we will be able to create a global emulation with sufficient inertia to create the conditions necessary for our survival.

PARTICIPATION

When the ocean, its appeal or its resources become an economic or civilizational component, it must be maintained. It is in everyone's interest to ensure its maintenance and its future, beyond the survival of humanity.

Each of the activities of the labelled establishments therefore leads to the collection and donation of a tiny part to ensure this maintenance.

From a few cents to a few euros, the gesture is both concrete in the financial support but also didactic and rewarding in a coherent and fair context .
