Engaged Reports & Metrics

PRESERVING AND STUDYING THE OCEAN :

TANGIBLE VALUE FOR COMPANIES

Obtaining the Engaged For Ocean label is more than just a disinterested commitment to the Ocean and communication. At a time when extra-financial accounting represents a major challenge for companies (obtaining financing, taxes, investments, etc.), the polarization of environmental issues on the subject of carbon is detrimental to the overall understanding of the levers to be used to preserve the climate.

Collectively, the members of the scientific committee defined 16 measurement parameters that make up the "Engaged for Ocean Metric". This metric makes it possible to track and measure the tangible effects of projects financed by Engaged For Ocean.

Annually, the results measured (through documented declarations by project owners & Engaged in-situ monitoring) will be attributed to label holders in the form of "Engaged Reports", proportional to their levels of financial commitment.

These reports are unique sources of :

  • Internal/external communications
  • Extra-financial balance sheets
  • Declaration to authorities (e.g. CSRD)

OPERATIONAL

NUMBER OF CITIZENS INVOLVED :

Number of people involved at any level in project implementation. From managers to volunteers, everyone who took part in the action or preparation is counted in this statistic.

SURFACE AREA OF PRESERVED SEABED (M2) :

SURFACE OF VEGETATED BOTTOM (CARBON SINK IN (M2) :

Surface area of seabed voluntarily planted by project participants, of species recognized as having a positive carbon capture and sequestration effect. (Posidonia, coccolithophorides, mangroves, seagrass beds, etc.).

VOLUME OF CORAL PROTECTED OR RESTORED (M3) :

Volume of coral reefs that have benefited from a beneficial administrative or operational action, either either as part of a study, or as part of revegetation, sanctuarization or biodiversity rebuilding biodiversity, either permanently or temporarily during the project.

SURVEYED SEABED AREA (M2) :

Surface area of seabed (coastal or open sea) analyzed either as part of a scientific study as part of a scientific study, or in preparation for the implementation of an operational action.

ANIMAL BIODIVERSITY CARED FOR OR PROTECTED :

Any marine or terrestrial life linked to the ocean that has been the object of a specific action of protection, reintroduction or temporary care.

TONNES OF WASTE RECOVERED :

Mass of waste recovered at sea (coastal, offshore, floating or bottom) as part of Engaged projects. This waste will be classified by type and material, and will include plastic, chemical, metallic and organic pollution.

POLLUTION AVOIDED OR RECOVERED (M3):

Volume and/or mass of waste captured, avoided or recycled as part of Engaged projects. Material considered lost and drifting out to sea without the intervention and implementation of Engaged projects.

NUMBER OF CITIZENS REACHED :

Number of citizens who have come into contact with awareness-raising or dissemination content related to the preservation or study of the Ocean or, more broadly, the environment. This contact can take a variety of forms: social networks, conferences, print media, television media, events, reports or documentaries, etc.
