PROTECTION, RESTORATION AND INNOVATIVE ACCELERATED STUDY OFCRITICAL MARINE HABITATS
PROJECTS WANTED :
Projects for the rapid restoration and protection of key marine habitats, such as coral reefs, mangroves, seagrass beds, lagoons, estuaries and areas of intense maritime or recreational traffic, using innovative, fast-growing restoration techniques. These may include the use of artificial structures to accelerate coral growth, mangrove planting with local communities, or seagrass seeding.
OBJECTIVE :
Demonstrate measurable improvement in the health and biodiversity of restored habitats within one year, while engaging local communities in marine conservation.
Examples of eligible projects

Replanting and development of posidonia and kelp meadows, etc...

Establishment and protection of animal biodiversity (turtles, fish, dolphins, etc.)

Cleaning, planting and monitoring mangrove areas.

Creating refuges for migratory seabirds in salt and salt marshes.

Protected egg-laying areas and scientific monitoring programs.

Artificial nurseries for fish and coastal biodiversity.

Raising young people's awareness of ocean preservation issues and actions.

Revegetation & creation of carbon sinks in coastal regions and lagoons.
