"Engaged For Ocean" was created

by the founders of the French environmental NGO

Thalas Océan was created in 2018 by Thomas and Audrey Capiten to oversee a major project of oceanographic expeditions all around the planet. With more than 3500 members, a scientific council bringing together a panel of internationally renowned scientists, Thalas Ocean is part of the rigor necessary to preserve the marine world.

These explorations, both scientific, technical and educational, have for objectives to increase and amplify both the consideration and the preservation of the marine world.

To join the label is to participate, among other things, in these three-way works for the preservation and the future of the Ocean.
Thomas Capiten
President / Chairman

Growing up in Cherbourg, a Normandy town split between a shipyard and a metallurgy company, his fondest childhood memories smell of salt, oil and steel as he looks to the western horizon.

An adventurous professional life has taken him from the boards of Parisian theaters to the oil yards of Gabon, German industrialists and international trading in Morocco. A commitment to sea rescue and the world of digital startups have forged his conviction that we must act for our planet, and particularly for the Ocean, the cradle and support of our entire civilization.

Director, Deployment Programs

A native of Nantes and Brittany, she became a paramedic through passion and family tradition. As a teenager, she took a sailing class on an old sailing ship, which completely converted her to sailing and the philosophy that goes with it.

She met Thomas in 2009, and since then they've been working together on this great project for the Ocean. It's only since 2016 that everything has started to take shape.

We realize that what we accomplish is just a drop in the ocean. But if that drop didn't exist in the ocean, it would be missing.
