Faced with the challenges of climate change and the need to preserve marine environments, towns - and not just coastal or port towns - have a key role to play. The CE4O label supports local authorities in an ambitious approach to ecological transition and the promotion of their commitments to the Ocean.

By obtaining the "City Engaged For Ocean" label, a city affirms its environmental commitment in a visible and concrete way. It enhances the value of its local policies in favor of ecological transition, boosts its attractiveness to residents, visitors and economic partners, and becomes part of a national drive to preserve the oceans. This commitment also acts as a lever for collective involvement.
By setting an example, the community naturally encourages local businesses to follow suit. It becomes a model of responsible commitment and encourages the local ecosystem to adopt more sustainable practices. The label thus creates a virtuous synergy between public and private players, in the service of a more resilient territory and a preserved marine future.
The label is based on an annual financial contribution calculated according to the number of inhabitants, guaranteeing a fair share adapted to the size of each municipality. Three levels of commitment enable towns to invest according to their means and environmental ambitions.
Each contribution is allocated to concrete local or international initiatives, steered by the Engaged for Ocean Scientific and Technical Committee, guaranteeing the seriousness of the projects financed, the benefits of which are shared with the community.

Who can obtain the label?
The "City Engaged For Ocean - CE4O" label is open to all municipalities, whatever their size or geographical location. They can apply, provided they actively support the preservation of the planet or the climate through their public policies, local actions and annual financial commitment.

PUBLIC POLICY
Chaque ville candidate doit d’abord démontrer un engagement public clair en faveur de la protection de l’Océan ou de l’environnement. Cet engagement peut se traduire par des actions concrètes telles que des politiques locales de transition écologique, des projets liés à la gestion du littoral ou des campagnes de sensibilisation.
ANNUAL INVESTMENT
This free and supervised financial participation, integrated into the E4O fund, enables us to concrete ocean preservation projects selected by the Engaged Committee.
The results of the actions enabled by this commitment are measured and attributed to each "Committed to the Ocean" city.

Il ne s’agit pas d’une récompense, mais d’une reconnaissance publique et d’un levier de mobilisation collective. Le label, adressé aux collectivités locales, contribue à créer un environnement où les acteurs publics et privés partagent des valeurs communes de responsabilité et d’action pour l’Océan.
Cette communauté réunie dans le mouvement des villes engagées pour l'océan, unie par une même volonté de transformation, représente un pilier essentiel du changement sociétal à l’échelle territoriale.
